The Hardest Part About Selling Your House Is Letting It Go
Part of the difficulties in selling my house is finding a hard time of letting it go. Letting go of your old house also take some time. When you decide to post your house for sale, there is always this pang of hesitancy of doing so.
Sometimes, you reminisce all those times you spent in your house, and every time you think of saying goodbye, precious memories just come flooding back. In this case, you are still not ready to turn over your house to a new owner. Here are some thoughts that might help out in order for you to get over your house-selling hesitation:
1. Think of the reason why you need to sell the house. Convince yourself that this reason outweighs the thought of further keeping the house. Tell yourself that marketing your house is for the betterment of your self, or your family, and your life in general.
Emphasize that the house is just a house. It is you and your family that makes a house a home. So as long as you are with the persons you love, everything will be fine. The memories you hold will not be lost when you leave your house anyway.
2. Start acting that you are letting go of the house. When you have conditioned yourself that the need to sell is greater than the need to retain, begin to disassociate your self from your house. Remove your personal things and store them away.
Your family pictures, favorite paintings, and your other important personal decors should be carefully stacked away. Make your house as empty – looking and as alien to your view as possible. In no time you will be asking yourself: Wow, is this really MY house?
3. Think positively. Figure out that this is only a chance for you for a new adventure and new memories in a new house. Think that your next house will even be better than your previous one. Life is about making the right decisions and moving on.
4. Imagine yourself giving the ownership of the house to the new family who will receive it. Remember, share your blessings. If the house had been an avenue of joy and happiness for you and your loved ones, then think of giving others a chance to experience how it is to live in that precious place that gave you all those smiles and laughters.
Letting go can be difficult for anyone. But if you condition your self and your emotions in doing so, you can get over that hesitancy in no time. There are other things that might worry you in the course of selling your own home. Do not let your emotions be one of them. I have conquered it when I sold my house. You can do it too.
